No Animal Testing
This is a no-brainer, but I'll say it anyway: no animal testing. It's cruel and unnecessary, and companies that don't test on animals have always been better for it.
The most common way to test new products is by applying them directly to human skin. This method can be problematic because there isn't much data available about how well the product will work on humans (or even if it works at all). If you're looking for more information about this process, check out our post on how to get involved with product testing.
No GMOs
You might be wondering, what the hell is a GMO? Well, it’s a plant or animal that has been genetically modified to make them more resistant to pests and herbicides. That means farmers are able to grow crops that can withstand harsh conditions like drought or heat waves without having to use pesticides or chemicals.
But there are some downsides: GMOs have been linked to cancer in rats, as well as other health issues like allergies and inflammation.
Some people believe they pose risks for human development as well; scientists aren't sure how long-term effects will manifest themselves over generations of eating these foods (or if they'll manifest at all). In addition, some research suggests that GMOs may disrupt ecosystems around the world by introducing new toxins into environments where animals feed off them (like insects).
Rhassoul clay for acne
Rhassoul clay is a natural clay that's rich in minerals, specifically iron and manganese. Rhassoul clay has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, which means it can be used as a facial mask to help treat acne and inflammation. Just mix 1 part rhassoul with 3 parts water (you can use distilled or filtered water) then apply to your skin for 20 minutes before rinsing away completely with warm water. You'll see results within 2 days.
Apply moisturizer to oily/acne-prone skin
If you have oily, acne-prone skin, it's important to apply a moisturizer before applying your makeup. Moisturizer help to regulate oil production and prevent clogged pores.
However, avoid heavy oils like coconut oil when choosing a facial moisturizer (although this may be useful for certain types of dryness). A good rule of thumb is that if there's an ingredient list that reads "coconut," chances are it won't be beneficial for your complexion and vice versa.
Instead look for products with salicylic acid or glycolic acid in their ingredients list; these acids will help reduce sebum production while also boosting cell turnover and improving clarity over time.
Almond oil for nail health
When you're trying to grow your nails, almond oil is an excellent choice. It's rich in vitamin E and vitamin A, two nutrients that help make them strong and flexible. This means that it will also help prevent breakage by strengthening your nails as they grow.
Almond oil can be applied directly to the nail bed just rub some on with your finger or a cotton ballor around it (if you want more coverage).
You'll want to use very small amounts so as not to damage the cuticles, too much almond oil will make them oily. Once applied topically, leave it alone for 20 minutes before wiping off any excess residue with warm water and/or soap.
Omega 3s for great hair, skin, and nails
If you’re looking for a way to keep your skin, hair and nails healthy, omega 3s are the solution. Omega 3s are found in fish and nuts like salmon, walnuts, almonds and flax seeds. They also can be found in some vegetables like spinach or kale.
Omega 3s are good for your health because they help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels which makes it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout the body without getting too much strain on it like when you take drugs that constrict your arteries (like statins). That’s why these fats were once referred to as “good fat” back in ancient Greece.
And finally…they're great for making new brain cells grow. You know how old people say that if you want more brain power then eat lots of fruits?
Well guess what? Eating plenty of those kinds of foods may not be enough especially if they don't contain any omega-3 fatty acids whatsoever.
In fact research shows that certain types indeed help build new neurons while others don't do anything at all but luckily there's an easy fix.
Just add some extra omegas into whatever else you're eating every day so both types get equal amounts.
Steaming For Skin Care
Steam is a simple and effective way to open pores, which can help reduce acne, blackheads and other skin problems. If you'd like to try steam at home, you can use a steamer or just take a hot shower in the bathroom with your favorite face wash on hand.
Do facial yoga to reduce wrinkles
Facial yoga is a form of facial exercise that can help reduce wrinkles, improve the look of your skin and reduce stress. It's also a great way to relax and destress after work or even on vacation!
To do facial yoga:
Sit in front of a mirror with your eyes closed. Place one hand on top of each other with palms facing outwards (like you're praying). With your other hand, gently massage from under each eye down towards your nose slowly twisting as if turning clockwise until reaching the top corner where it meets up with its opposite number on the opposite side.
Repeat this motion three times per side before switching sides for another round. You should see improvement after just one session.
Healthy habits can do wonders for your beauty routine!
- Don't be afraid to try new things. If you've been using the same products for years and have no idea how they affect your skin and hair, it's time to change things up. Take a gander at what other people are using in their beauty routines, you might be surprised by all the cool stuff out there.
- Invest in some high quality products. Good skin care is expensive (and I'm not talking about that $6 bottle of moisturizer from Target), but spending less than $100 on high quality skincare can be well worth it.
Conclusion
We hope this article inspires you to take care of your skin, hair and nails with delicious home-made recipes. And remember: healthy habits make the world a happier place.
