Twitter DM Update new Interface to Android Users! 8 New Features October 2022
Today, Twitter released an update for Android users that allows them to see their direct messages in a new interface. The company started testing this change few months ago and has now rolled it out to all users. It's similar to what you'll find on iOS, with some minor tweaks here and there.
For example, when composing a tweet or DM (as opposed to reading one) you'll now see an additional compose button on your screen. There's also a new composer screen where users can manage who they want to send their tweets directly from instead of having to use the default account creator tool we've all grown accustomed to over the years.

QUICK VIEW
1. Improved UI
Moderner and more in line with the rest of the app is the redesigned UI. Additionally responsive, it functions nicely on mobile platforms. You now have better control over your settings and the updated interface is easier to use.
Android users won't any longer notice the recognisable boxy look when they open their DMs. Now they can check to see if they have gotten message requests from friends. Additionally, a Settings icon has taken the position of the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the user interface.
2. New composer
3. Better tweet forwarding
You can also forward a tweet to more than one person at once. If you want to send someone a message, but don't want to send it directly from your account, this is the perfect way.
When sending a direct message using the Tweet button on Android, there are no options for adding comments or otherwise changing the context of the original tweet. However, if you use this feature in conjunction with forwarding messages from another device (like an iPhone), then all those options will be available for use when composing new tweets on your Android device as well as their corresponding messages sent via SMS or email and vice versa.
4. Context for message requests
- You can now see who is requesting a DM.
- You'll also be able to see the profile of the person requesting a DM and their last tweet.
- And, if you have notifications enabled for @mentions or DMs on Twitter, then you'll be able to see who has requested your attention in those contexts too.
5. Clearer read receipts
Read receipts have been added to the DM app. This means that when you send a message and someone else sees it, they’ll receive a notification on their phone that they have been read—no matter if you type “@username” or just tap on the text field.
You can turn off read receipts by going into your settings menu in the app (settings > notifications). The option is located under “Read Receipts” and shows whether or not this feature has been enabled for each person in your list of contacts.
6. Twitter now lets you search your DMs for specific messages
Twitter has made some changes to the way you manage your DMs on your Android phone. You can now search for specific messages by name of person, date, or hashtag. If you want to know when someone last DM'd you and what they said in their message(s), just search for that individual's username up until now and see all the past conversations between them.
You can also find a specific message by keyword if necessary. For example, if someone sent one that contained "I love you" in it but didn't include any other words. If you enter that keyword in the search box, you can access that message immediately.
7. Twitter now lets you pin up to 6 DM conversations
You can now pin up to six conversations on your timeline.
This is a very welcome change, as it allows you to have multiple conversations going at once. You will be able to see who you're talking with and what you've been discussing in each conversation without having to scroll through all of them individually. The best part about this feature is that it also shows when someone sends a message, which means there's no need for an app or website anymore.
8. The new interface is similar to the updated iOS interface.

The most obvious changes include a better composer, context for message requests and clearer read receipts.
In addition to these features, Twitter has also made several other tweaks that improve performance for scrolling through timelines and viewing images on mobile devices.
Conclusion
The new interface is similar to the updated iOS interface. You can still view your DMs, but you can also request a message from any of them and it will show up as a notification for that person in their notifications section.
There are also some new features like pinning previous conversations and search functionality for individual messages. It's a great update that makes Twitter more useful for Android users!
